  • Do I need to book?
    To join us at Frankie for breakfast or lunch, you can just turn up to grab a table when one is available. When joining us for dinner on Wednesday or Saturday, it is recommended that you book a table. Book a table here. If you will be attending with a school or sporting group we would love to customise an offer to you, get in touch.
  • What if I have a big group?
    We welcome family groups, birthday groups, school groups, lodge groups ... you name it! We would love to create a customised offering to suit your groups needs and ensure you have a memorable experience at The Big D. We offer private group seating areas, birthday cakes, school group spaces and more. We just need to know in advance, so that we can be organised and offer you the most suitable menu or service - to suit your occasion. Please contact us to find out more.
  • Is there wifi?
    No public wifi, sorry. We do not offer access to our venue wifi. Our wifi is supporting our restaurant point of sale, security cameras, games machines and sound equipment. It is often at full capacity, therefore we are unable to jeopardise connections by giving public access to our wifi.
  • Where is The Big D?
    The Big D is located at The Village Bus Stop #5
  • Can we leave the kids to be looked after by your staff?
    No, children can not be left unattended at Frankie. We are fully licensed, and our offering is designed for kids and big kids alike to enjoy the space, the service and our offerings. Frankie is a family hub, and we are not registered or staffed to provide unsupervised childcare services. Parents or guardians must also be in the venue whilst their child is at Frankie.
  • When are you open?
    Frankie is open everyday for breakfast, lunch, beverages and snacks throughout the Mt. Hotham ski season from 8am. On the rare occasion that we are closed early, it could be due to the Big D Ski run and lift being closed. Frankie will be open 2 nights a week during the ski season. Wednesday & Saturday to enhance the fun at The Big D night skiing. Follow us on Facebook or join our Mailing List for our announcement of official opening dates & events for this winter.
  • Where is Frankie?
    Frankie is upstairs at the Big D Ski Centre. You can locate us using Google Maps here During the announced snow season at Mt. Hotham you can use The Village Bus Stop #5 to get to The Big D Ski lift and run. We are located on the upper level.
  • Is the venue heated?
    Yes. We offer you a warm space to sit and enjoy yourselves in, whilst sheltering from the cold outside. It's worth rugging up, and heading out for some fun - we promise!
  • Are there toilets on the upper level?
    Yes. We have one unisex toilet on the upper level. Further to this, any evening that night skiing is on, there are more toilets downstairs if required.
  • Do you have baby change facilities?
    Yes. In the downstairs toilets at The Big D, we have change table facility for parents use.
  • Can I bring my own food to Frankie?
    No. We are responsible for the health and wellness of all our patrons, therefore we control the food consumed on our registered premises. On the upper level of the Big D is the Glasshouse. This is an area allocated for general public and our patrons use. If you wish to bring your own food to consume, there are often available tables available in the facility for your comfort. On the rarest of occasion that you have a special dietary requirement as part of a group booking that we are unable to attend to, we can discuss this further. Contact us.
  • Do I need to bring my ID?
    Anyone who looks under the age of 25, may be asked for ID. If you are over 18 and attending the venue to consume alcohol, it is recommended that you bring your ID with you. Without it, you may be refused service.
  • Do you have Gluten Free food on the menu?
    Yes we do. We are forever increasing our offerings and attending to a wide range of dietary requirements. Gluten Free items are marked on the menu.
  • Is your kitchen allergen free?
    No. All our food is prepared & handled in a kitchen that contains gluten, nuts, dairy, eggs, soy, onion, garlic, sesame & shellfish. All care is taken, but we can not guarantee cross contamination will not occur.
  • Do you make birthday cakes?
    Yes. We can assist if you are celebrating a birthday with us. Ask us about our famous donut stack cakes. Or what type of birthday cakes we can supply depending on the date of your celebration.
  • Do you have vegan and vegetarian menu options?
    Yes we do. We cater for a range of dietary requirements. Vegan and Vegetarian friendly dishes are referenced on the menu, plus we have a range of vegan ,milks and even vegan ice-cream and donuts on the dessert bar!
  • What's on your food and drink menu?
    In the morning, we are best known for a quality coffee and breakfast offering, including grab n go food to get you hitting the slopes as quickly as possible. At lunchtime, our menu and a wide range of healthy and loaded options, plus kid meals to ensure those bellies are full and fuelled with enough energy to make it through a full day of skiing. When we open for dinner, we offer a family friendly menu of burgers, fish & chips, pasta dishes plus sides and snacks like delicious wings & loaded fries.   • Are you licensed?
    Yes. We are fully licensed from 7am - 10pm
  • Can my teenager have a drink with dinner, if they are dining with us?
    No. Despite common confusion, licensing laws in Victoria DO NOT allow minors to consume alcohol on a licensed premises, EVEN IF they are in the company of a parent or guardian. We do not serve minors or accept alcohol being given to minors on premises.
  • How do I pay for Arcade Games?
    Each game machine accepts cash and token payment. Tokens are the most valuable form of payment as you can pay for example $50, and get $60 worth of tokens.
  • Do I need to book?
    No. Our Arcade Games are accessible during our usual trading hours for plenty of family fun. Walk in anytime during trading hours and have some fun in the Arcade Room. In the rarest of occasions that we might be closed for a private function, we will announce on our socials.
  • How much does it cost to play?
    Each game costs $2 per person. Purchasing tokens from the Token Machine a great way to reduce the cost per game, as you can pay for example $50, but get $60 worth of tokens.
  • Is there a time limit?
    Each game time is different depending on your score, number of players etc. There is no time limit to how long you can spend playing the games during our open hours.
  • Are there any age restrictions?
    No, there are no age restrictions to enjoy entertainment. Our offerings, arcade games and our ticketed events are designed for children aged 17 years and under. We have no age restrictions on who can and cannot attend the venue and participate in entertainment. The venue is fully licensed, alcohol service is for adults over 18 years of age, ID will most likely be requested.
  • How do we get tickets to attend?
    This activity is restricted to group bookings for school, sporting or social groups. Get in touch if you have a group of 20 or more to arrange an event.
  • How do we host a channel?
    You have a group booked and attending Silent Disco! Hooray! Next thing to do is nominate 3 channel hosts. Each of the channel hosts will need to have ; a phone or device that can stream music or has a downloaded/saved playlist* (and enough music on the playlist for your nominated entertainment time) bluetooth functionality full battery power, and it is recommended that they bring a charger and wall plug *We recommend music be played via Spotify, as you can set the profile on the account to exclude music with explicit lyrics. Once at the venue we will assist each channel host to connect to our system via bluetooth, where each of the attendees can use a headset to tune into any of the 3 channels.
  • What is included in the event package?
    We will work with you to build a custom package to suit your group requirements. All packages must include a food package, and most groups prefer a food and beverage package. Contact us with your group details and we will build a package to suit.
